It's so sad when a child has to be hospitalized because they often feel sick and scared, but not Brock! Jessica noticed some bruising one evening and took him to the ER.
His blood platelets, typically at 100,000, were down to zero. That resulted in bruising and even blood blisters on his tongue.
Fortunately all his other counts were normal and his condition was apparently due to fighting off an illness. He was admitted to the hospital for a couple of days. With only one other child patient on the floor, he was showered with attention, gifts, and taught how to call for nurses. Without Jessica being aware, he called for more orange juice, a straw, or whatever else he fancied. Jessica told him since she was by his bedside he should ask her. "But I like calling them," was his innocent response.
Wendy brought Olive to visit him. Olive wanted to get into the bed with him, but he claimed it was his special bed and proceeded to operate the controls (even folding himself in half). He felt great and totally enjoyed his stay there. This picture says it all.
Glad you're better, Brock! Now just keep from falling until your platelets are completely back to normal.
