Ringing in the New Year

About 2 miles down the road is an old church that was sold and converted to a reception center, so we accepted an invitation to join the new owner's New Year's Eve party.

It began with some dance instruction.  They were just simple steps which were easy to learn and a lot of fun to do.

We sat with friends, Ken and Barbara (yep, that's Ken and Barbie).
The live band was excellent.   They encouraged couples over 50 to participate in a dance contest.  I honestly don't know what possesses Paul to think that we can do just about anything.  We had, after all, a cumulative lifetime total of 30 minutes of dance instruction completed that evening.  I was adamant about not getting up from my table, but then the emcee said all participants would receive free tickets to the Valentine's Sweetheart Ball.  I'm such a sucker for a freebee.  If they had awarded a prize for the couple who laughed the most, I think we would have won.
We vowed to take more dance lessons and maybe even win a contest (perhaps if we're the only participants).
Happy New Year to my hubby!
